Maybe the city ought to crack down on THIS behavior before they spend millions to make the intersection 'safer'

So, I'm being driven through the intersection of Main and University and what do I see? Some young-looking dudes dancing in and out of traffic, holding donation cans up to drivers stopped at the signals.

No, imagine some homeless guy was doing the exact same thing. How long do you think it would be before the cops came along and put a stop to it?  Minutes, probably.

This is unsafe behavior, whether or not it's Bradley University kids raising money or Peoria Firefighters trying to get people to put money in their "boots" for charity. Someone is going to get injured or seriously dead.

And the city is audaciously asking taxpayers to pay for "improvements" to make the intersection safer. Please. Post a few signs promising huge fines for jaywalking, or for trying to cross the street with a cell phone plastered to your ear. Then enforce it.

Hey, kids! Comix!

Katy Perry objects to naked popstars (because she obviously thinks NEAR naked is the way to go)

Seriously.

Another pizza chain takes over at the Pizza Inn location, sending profits to Chicago

Yeah, this is considered good news in some circles. The Aurelio's Pizza chain is taking over the former Pizza Inn location on Sterling Avenue. No article yet in the Journal Star, but I'm sure there will be one soon. News outlets like the Peoria Journal Star get down on its knees and felate chain restaurants whenever they come to Peoria. But I guarantee you that if some local family had opened "Mom's Pizza" in the exact same location, there would be no mention of it in the pages of the Journal Star.

And since it's a chain restaurant, all profits will be used to fund schools and roads in Chicago.

A city is threatening to use its eminent domain powers for GOOD instead of evil

In Peoria, the city has recently used its eminent domain powers to throw people in the streets and seize their homes so developers could build baseball parks and strip malls (all of which are failing now, by the way). Some city's are threatening to use eminent domain so KEEP people in their homes:

Richmond (Calif.), a city of about 100,000 people (where the  largest employer is a local Chevron refinery that  made national headlines last year for a massive fire leading thousands of residents to sue for damages) is contemplating using an unlikely tool to rescue homeowners and help keep them in their homes: the power of eminent domain.

The city has become ground zero in a standoff between housing advocates and big banks, which argue that the unprecedented scheme could unsettle the market for complex mortgage-backed securities.

If the plan succeeds, it could set off a chain reaction among cities big and small. And it could transform eminent domain—a power that has long been used to displace residents, often in communities of color—into a tool to help stabilize neighborhoods.

Here's what has happened so far: In July, city officials sent letters to 32 mortgage companies offering to purchase more than 600 underwater mortgages for about 80 percent of their market value. (80 percent, the plan's proponents say, because some loans are at risk of default, though banks have countered that the markdown is merely a moneymaking scheme since the principal amounts will be adjusted to their full market value). Once the city obtains the loans, it will help homeowners refinance at more affordable rates. If the banks refuse to sell, Richmond is threatening to use eminent domain to seize the mortgages.

It's time to dump Obamacare for something better ...

The basic framework for what became the Affordable Care Act was a Conservative, Republican idea. ANYTHING but what was then being proposed. So, Obama turned the tables on the right wing and said, 'OK, we do what you want.'

And naturally, the right wing turned on their own idea. They could not be more ideologically opposed to Obamacare.

So i think it's time to give them what they want and switch to a universal single payer plan. Simple. Controls costs. And we would lose not ONE SINGLE VOTE FROM THE RIGHT.

Are these cats for real?

I think they are stuffed, myself. The cats too.

Hey, babe ... why don't you and I go to my place ... where I can lick your eyeball?

Yep. I've written before about Afghan eyeball porn. But there's a new thing that's kinda similar:

A dangerous fetish has eye experts seeing red and those who practice it seeing pink.

It is eyeball licking -- a strange erotic activity wherein participants actually put each other's tongues on each other's peepers.

[snip]

Alternatively called "oculolinctus" or "worming," eyeball licking has few public advocates but they include Elektrika Energias, a 29-year-old environmental science student in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

"My boyfriend started licking my eyeballs years ago and I just loved it. I'm not with him anymore, but I still like to ask guys to lick my eyeballs," she told The Huffington Post. "I just love it because it turns me on, like sucking on my toes. It makes me feel all tingly."

Know your rights

Use this on all traffic "safety checks." They aren't about safety. They are about arresting people after drug searches. Police hate this. They pull you over and THEN start collecting "evidence" to justify searching your car.

Different strokes for different folks from the Peoria Police Department

I just saw a police car pull up to a pedestrian on Knoxville, turn on its flashing lights and call the guy over to talk. Somehow, you never see that on High Point Drive.

No more fun ... of any kind!

Only in California:

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Students in San Jose, Calif., can no longer hold car washes to raise for money for school events because city officials say they endanger the environment.

Cheerleaders at Lincoln High School had to cancel a scheduled Oct. 20 car wash after a visit from the city's Environmental Services Department, the San Jose Mercury News reported Friday.

"Anything that is not storm water or rain water is considered a pollutant," said Jennie Loft, the department's acting communications manager. "If it goes into a storm drain, that pollutant will harm wildlife and habitats in the creeks."

Alabama Blogger is beaten and jailed for ... blogging

Yes, Alabama IS part of the United States, although you couldn't tell it from how this blogger has been treated:

The prominent investigative blogger Roger Shuler was arrested and beaten by Shelby County sheriff's deputies in his Alabama garage upon returning home the evening of Oct. 23.

Shuler faces charges stemming from his refusal to obey a judge's order to stop writing about an alleged affair involving Robert Riley Jr., an attorney who is part of Alabama's most prominent political family.

Shuler at right shown in a jail mug shot photo with a swollen face after his beating and attack with MACE in his garage. Authorities in his county south of Birmingham held him on two contempt of court charges and one for resisting arrest. A judge refused to set bond on the contempt charges, thereby enabling authorities to hold Shuler for an undetermined period that could be many months at the judge's discretion. His bond was $1,000 for the resisting arrest charge.

The blog in question is called Legal Schnauzer, while it's focus seems singular, most of the time it cites documents, that posts the entire document. And he's writing almost entirely about public officials.

Waiter's got teh gay? No tip for you ...

Oh, Lord ...

A 20-year-old waiter at Carrabbas Italian Grill in Overland Park, Kansas was subjected to an ugly anti-gay rant by customers who refused to tip him based on his sexual orientation, despite the fact that he provided them with excellent service, KCTV reported.

The incident arose after the patrons had left the restaurant, upon where the waiter found a note written on a credit card explaining clearly why the waiter would not be getting a tip – because he was gay.  The message, which began with a compliment, quickly turned nasty:

"Thank you for your service, it was excellent. That being said, we cannot in good conscience tip you, for your homosexual lifestyle is an affront to GOD. (Homosexual slur) do not share in the wealth of GOD, and you will not share in ours.  We hope you will see the tip your (homosexual slur) choices made you lose out on, and plan accordingly. It is never too late for GOD's love, but none shall be spared for (homosexual slur). May GOD have mercy on you,” the note read.

Here are 9 chicken-shit Democrats caving in the the GOP on Social Security cuts

Shameless. We need to replace them with real Democrats:

But, as Sen. Sanders’ policy aide noted, the mindset in too many Washington circles is taking a completely opposite view. You would expect corporate defenders among the GOP to do what they have been doing since the government reopened—clamoring for cuts to social programs, as their rich benefactors don’t need them, and cutting tax rates, which makes wealthy people and businesses even wealthier. That’s what GOP leaders said; they’ll end the across-the-board federal cuts known as the sequester if Democrats agree to future cuts in Social Security and Medicare.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid firmly said no to that. But a day after the government reopened, the nation’s top Democrat, President Obama, spoke about the need to address “long-term obligations that we have around things like Medicare and Social Security.” The Senate Budget Committee chairwoman, Washington’s Patty Murray, said “all issues are on the [negotiating] table.”

The Senate’s number-two top Democrat, Illinois’ Dick Durban, later in the week told Fox News Sunday that “Social Security is going to run out of money in 20 years…Medicare may run out of money in 10 years. Let’s fix it now.” Virginia Democratic Sen. Mark Warner told the same program, “We all know at the end of the day, Republicans are going to have to give on revenues, Democrats are going to have to give on entitlement reform.”

Another north Peoria home invasion has Peoria Police in a tizzy

Press release from the Peoria Police Department:

At approximately 04:26 a.m. 10-25-13, Peoria Police Officers responded to 3107 W. Capitol, Peoria, on a home invasion. Entry appears to have been made through an unlocked door. The occupants of the home were restrained similarly to recent home invasions, and a vehicle was also taken. The vehicle has been recovered and is being processed for possible evidence. This investigation is ongoing.

Christie Brinkley is 60, and damn

Yes, I know she's been married and divorced four times. And she no doubt took all four for most of their fortunes in divorce settlements. All that means is there are four dudes going "Yep. It was worth it."

Look at it this way: Christie Brinkley was 33 years old when Lindsay Lohan was born, and there are Internet billionaires who are the same age as Lindsay Lohan who would rather nail Christie Brinkley.

Horrible, wasteful Obamacare is poised to sazve the country $190 billion ... that's 'BILLION' with a 'B'

Heh. Heh. Heh.

Lower than projected premiums under the Affordable Care Act will save the federal government $190 billion over 10 years and increase the law’s deficit reduction by 174 percent to almost $300 billion, a new analysis from the Center for American Progress has found.

The report, from Topher Spiro and Jonathan Gruber, bolsters President Obama’s claims on Monday that despite the ongoing technical problems surrounding HealthCare.gov, “the product of the Affordable Care Act for people without health insurance is quality health insurance that’s affordable.”

Yeah, yeah. I heard ya right-wingers. The "Center for American Progress" sounds likes a lefty organization, so without even looking at the numbers, go ahead and write it off as a lefty lie.

OSF, Methodist and Proctor would just as soon you DIE if they can't cure you

I have a friend who was in a serious traffic accident a couple of years ago. The driver was the son of a locally prominent politician. He's pretty much escaped punishment for crushing her car.

Since then. she's been in and out of hospitals. She just had a shunt removed from her head, and she's been in and out of the emergency room since. She's in a lot of pain, and her blood pressure shoots up.

Her doctors keep sending her home. They can';t do anything for her.

You would think with THREE BIG HOSPITALS IN PEORIA, you would be able to get excellent medical care. Not so.

First, any of these three would rather DIE that refer you to any doctor associated with the other two. They will recommend going to the Mayor Clinic before sending you to another Peoria hospital.

Second, these three hospitals are fine if what is wrong with you can be cured with there brand of assembly line care. If your outside the norm, well, screw you.

My friend finally got a referral to the Mayor Clinic, where she hopes someone up there will be treat her problems.

Trading bombings

You know, someone was telling me it would be absolutely justified for the United States to bomb Mecca. Because it would be absolutely justified for the Muslims to bomb the Golden Gate Bridge because of that asshole Koran burning minister in Florida.
