District 150 is at war with its constituents

It's entertaining, momentarily, to watch a school district at war with citizens. Then you realize YOU are getting fucked along with everyone else.

I mean, it's one thing for District 150 School Board Rick Cloyd to interurpt gadfly Terry Knapp during Monday night's budget session to demand that Knapp only speak about the budget.

Knapp -- my former WHS freshman biology teacher -- is a great gadfly, but he can ramble on a bit. Stay on the topic of the budget, Knapp was told by Cloyd. Knapp, who at that instant was going on abut Valeska Hinton Early Childhood Education Center, was furious. I'm getting to the subject of SUMMER SCHOOL, which is in the budget, for all of $2,000, he said.

Stay on the subject of THE BUDGET, Cloyd insisted, obviously not hearing very well.

This exchange went for a minute, and Cloyd eventually shut up and let Terry finish his thoughts.

Earlier, another former teacher Sharon Crews, was tearing the D-150 board a new one over how it budgeted money to fight her frequent Freedom of Information Act Requests. None of her requests were for the names of children or staff, so it makes no sense to send her requests to lawyers for review. And those budget items she requested information on that were supposed to be on the Web. They weren't, she said.

And David Kinney, comptroller/treasurer, gave a report on how they can remodel athletic fields. And he really, really, really wants to make sure they plan for the coming of lacrosse. Not that you and I have ever played this game. Not that our kids ever play the game. it'sx being pushed by the state. So, it would be wide to spend money, NOW, to make our fields playable for lacrosse, because the state government is planning on pushing lacrosse down our throats.

The lacrossapocolypse is coming.

And that's my version of last night's school board meeting.
