And Rep. Aaron Schock’s campaign spent more than $2,600 on cuff links, paid $390 to a seaplane company based in the British Virgin Islands and spent more than $1,500 on concert tickets.I haven't read the whole article (it's behind a paywall). No doubt a member of Aaron Schock's paid staff of political operatives will contact me with a statement about how all he needed to spend $2,600 on cuff links, $390 to rent a sea plane in the Brtish Virgin Islands and another $1,500 on concert tickets to get reelected (maybe Aaron took some solace by attending a Taylor Swift concert) Ummm, who WAS the political powerhouse he ran against last time?
Under federal election laws, the expenditures, disclosed in campaign finance filings to the Federal Election Commission, are legal as long as they served a political or campaign purpose.
But critics say they are examples of how campaign funds can boost lawmakers’ lifestyles and how the line between personal and campaign spending can be blurred.
And the communication will no doubt call me a hater, too.
You know why I support blogging? Because Aaron Schock's lackies tried TWICE (that I know of) to get Journal Star reporters fired. In one case, they caused a reporter to get re-assigned.
I'm a blogger. I don't have a boss.
